16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers, Hampshire Area Group. This page will contain details of contacts and local events in the 16mmngm calendar for the Hampshire area. Hampshire Group. Informal meetings are held on the second Friday of each month - the venue now being used by the club is at Portchester - Seaway Grove : it is the separate building right at the end of the lane. The postcode is PO16 9HN and there will be meetings from about 20:00hrs onwards. There is a small multi-gauge test track in a separate hut, but it is not yet operational due to a recent move. A donation of £1.50 is requested to cover coffee/tea and biscuits each visit. Usually there are experienced folk about to help with any difficulties and boiler testing can be carried out by myself - please contact either myself or William with a little notice before arriving, or we can arrange another time here in Waterlooville. It will probably be best to contact either myself or William prior to attending to ensure the doors will be open, or if you just want more info.
As you can see from the pictures here, rails are being replaced, but there is still an awful lot to do. Crumblyn January 2008. The rail replacement forges ahead, the new brass variant with wooden sleepers is being handbuilt but stands out very significantly. Dave and Mike investigate a problem with one of the handmade points.
WESTERN FRINGE : Presently there are ad-hoc meetings taking place in the west of the region (Lyndhurst/Totton) which avoids the extensive travel for those partakers. Please contact William or me on the emails below for more details. The meetings are on Friday eves. Contact : William Bickers-Jones via email on hampshire.group@16mm.org.uk or myself on steam@cslr.co.uk. William can put you in touch with other local members, or let you know of any local garden running sessions, which are usually more frequent in the summer months. This area has a mixture of 32mm and 45mm gauge railways, featuring stock and models from railways of Britain, Europe, Africa and the Americas. The Hampshire group is also host to the Southdown portable layout. Click here for a link to the Hampshire Area Group Newsletters Archive. |
