This page gives an overview of railways in the Hampshire area. Only a small amount of information is contained here, but links to the owners site is included where available.

If your railway is within the area and you would like it mentioned here, drop a line to me using the link at the foot of the page.

1. Sierra Leone Railway.        Proprietor : WD Bickers-Jones        Gauge : 45mm

Modelled in Purbrook to represent the railway stock that ran in Sierra Leone, this railway uses accurate scale, mostly scratchbuilt, models of the engines and wagons that were used.

Although several projects are currently underway, the line boasts a Pearce Hunslet, No.85 (as seen today on the Welshpool and Llanfair), an Accucraft Joan with additional detailing, 'Ivo Peters' a Merlin 0-4-0, a Caradoc named 'Wombat' and an increasing number of wagons, all to scale.

See http://www.wllr.org.uk/ for the present home of No.85 on the Welshpool and Llanfair.

2. Catnap & Frog Railway.     Proprietor : Keith Brown                    Gauge : 32mm

This layout is based in Havant and is an excellent example of what can be achieved in a small space. The proprietor also manufactures small diesel outline locomotives and is an agent for some ranges of steam locomotives.

See the CLR website at http://www.catnap-and-frog-railway.co.uk/

3. South Don and Flingel.    Proprietor : David Fleetwood            Gauge : 45mm

We move west to Lymmington for this extensive layout, featuring a myriad of bridges, remote point control and fine scenic detail. David runs battery and steam in his garden, a recent addition being an Accucraft C16 (live steam) 2-8-0. The lines curves are gentle enough to allow this locomotive to show its impressive relaxed power well.

See the SDF website at http://www.sdfr.info

4. White Pass Line.            Proprietor : Rod Blakeman                Gauge : 45mm

The White Pass comes to Totton, the home to Rod's garden line, where the trains snake realistically between rocky mountain outcrops and overhangs, over a variety of wooden trestle and steel spans and through tunnels. This line is undergoing transformation presently, with a new raised level being incorporated to extend the run length. Rod runs battery and steam on his line.

Rod also has equipment to test and tune steam locomotives, the Accucraft range being a speciality.
